How priddy is she?

I saw this girlie in "The House Bunny" and just thought she was so cute. No wait, GORGEOUS. I love her hair. I love freckles. I have a TON of them all over. You'd think I was a redhead. But despite having so many freckles, I don't have them where I REALLY want them. Across my nose. What a silly thing to wish for, eh? Once (you can laugh at me if you want) I actually tried to draw them on with an eye liner pencil. Just to see what they'd look like. tee hee

locks of love

I'm a little obsessed with changing my hair. I've had it short for about two years now, and I've been wondering what to do with it. Grow it out, keep it short, somewhere in between? My little sister has been growing her hair out, and it looks really good on her. I told her this, and she said she's growing it out to donate to Locks of Love. My mom did this before she started chemo last year, and I thought: "there's my answer!"
I'm growing my hair out until it's long enough to donate (ten inches) and then I'll chop it off and send it in. Yay for helping those in need!

BIG FAT SIGH OF RELIEF! I think I may be done (for now, anyhow) with my blog makeover. Whaddya think? New features:

*I've updated my links to include anyone I may have been too lazy to add in the past. So if you don't see your name please let me know and I'll add you!

*Check out "lovely links" to see some of my favorite sites. If you would like me to add your button/website to my blog, let me know and I'd be happy to. You can see MY button to the left. By all means, feel free to add my button to YOUR site.

*See that whale fella to your left? The one with the top hat.  "Ahem!" he says. He's trying to get your attention, so listen up! He'll be here to announce giveaways and anything else he finds important enough for you to know.

*LAST but not least, if you want to see pictures of our little family, get updates, etc. you won't find it here. You'll have to go over to my personal blog and have me add you. Personal blogs do NOT update in google reader, so keep that in mind.

Thanks everyone for your support and love. You guys rock :)

Oh my!

{Its this lil' sweetie's 2nd birthday today!}

Happy happy birthday to my dearest mini me. I can't believe you are TWO! It literally seems like just yesterday you turned one. How time flies. And I hate it and love it at the same time. I was watching videos of a year ago, and my how you've grown. I miss the days when you were so tiny you could snuggle up on my chest in a ball, but nothing beats you laying in bed with me this morning and giving me a hug and kiss every five seconds. I love you so much, and I'm so proud of who you are. You are the sweetest, goofiest little girl and I can't believe you're mine!

Farewell, diaper genie

So long, diaper drawer (what shall we fill you with now?)

It's true, folks. Mae is officially potty trained, and just a few days before her 2nd birthday. This makes for one ecstatic mommy.

Lovely books

In the past two weeks I've read the following:

(the first book in the series is called "Uglies")
Loved it

"Specials" the third book in the Uglies series
Loved it

Couldn't put this one down. If you're a fan of Jane Austen, you'll love this one. Or even if you're not, (I've never actually read any of her books, and I'm ashamed to admit it) you'll love it.

Now I'm off to read the companion novel to the Uglies series, titled "Extras", and listening to "Star Girl" on cd while I paint.
I love a good story.

the REAL Halloween

Last night we went to dinner at Caramba's (more like Cacrappa's) and then went to a free October festival put on by a local church. They had a ton of games, candy, bouncin' houses, and a little ferris wheel. Mae was terrified of going on the bounce houses, but she LOVED the ferris wheel. I think all the kids jumping around like crazy made her a bit nervous.
My costume was a pirate which I made from things I had in my closet: Pirate lingerie courtesy of www.3wishes.com. (Yes, I have pirate lingerie. We spent our first anniversary in the Pirate Room at the Anniversary Inn) leggings, fish net stockings, and a skull head scarf from Disneyland.
Tom's Costume: Lifeguard. His own shirt and swimming trunks, plus Mae's duck floaties.

I love thrift stores. Most everything in our place is from a thrift store or made by me. Although I like Pottery Barn, IKEA, etc. I love that my stuff isn't mass produced, and it has a sort of thrown together look. Because that's exactly what it is. Thrown together. Here are some of my favorite thrift store finds in our home.
