Ben Folds is my HERO

I am a HUGE fan of Ben Folds and Tom and I got to go to the concert last Wednesday. Ben is pure genius. LOVE his music, love his piano playing fingers. Awesome. We took our friends Drew and Jenny. The crowd was enthusiastic, but NO ONE was dancing or jumping around, so Jenny and I decided to take it into our own hands and get crazy. I mean CUH-RAZY. We were honestly the only ones in the crowd having pure flippin fun. Thanks Jen, for being cool enough to spaz out with me.

Just for the record...

My friend forwarded this to me, and I thought it was perfect. It expresses my feelings exactly.

For those of you who have been watching the news and may have wondered....

Some Mormon women sing...

Some Mormon women dance...

Some Mormon women write scary stories...

Some Mormon women have lots of money and really great hair...

I know hundreds of Mormon women.

They do all kinds of different things and live all different kinds of lives.

This woman served as a leader in the Mormon church. She recently spoke to teenage girls worldwide. She encouraged them to stand up to peer pressure, strengthen their families and serve others. (Click here for more.)

None of the Mormon women I know look like this...

None of them are marrying off their teenage daughters and-- although some may joke about wanting a sister-wife (preferably one who is really fat & ugly, does bathrooms and changes diapers)--none of them really want to share their husband with anyone.

Furthermore...

Some Mormon guys can throw a ball...

Some Mormon guys yell at the ball...

Some Mormon guys make scary movies...

Some Mormon guys have a lot of money and really great hair...

I know hundreds of Mormon guys. They do all kinds of different things and live all kinds of different lives.

This is one of the leaders of the Mormon church. Last Sunday he spoke about honoring women, especially mothers, and gave advice to husbands and children about how to treat the women in their lives. (For the whole story, click here.)

None of the Mormon men I know look like this...

The Mormon men I know are honest and hard-working. They don't cheat, smoke, drink or gamble. And TRUST ME....the last thing any of them want is another wife.

The Adventures of Ollie and Squints

Once upon a spring eve (A thursdee, to be exact)
SQUINTS:
and Ollie:
went on a wonderful adventure in Ollie's jeeper. Ollie yelled,"Squints, lets please change the radio musical box. I want to hear a wondrous tune with my ears that are on the side of my head."
Squints was not excited.

Squints peered down at the radio musical box. This is what it looked like:

"What should we listen to, Ollie? What is your request?" Squints pondered out loud.

"OOOOOH!" squealed Ollie. "OOOOOOOOOOH!"

"Hurry and decide! Well, what is it? What shall the musical number be?" inquired Squints of Ollie.
"......what would you look like if I peered at you through my two fingers?" Ollie wondered aloud.

Squints sighed. "Ollie, I can't take much more of this madness. Did you take your medication today?"
"Oh boy! Did I ever! I mixed them into my cranberry oatmeal! It was delicious" honked Ollie, in the likeness of a fog horn on a foggy day at sea on a ship with some sailors who sail upon the sea and sometimes get seasick and puke in the water and make the fish sad.
"UH OH! "

"Gee, what is it Ollie? Whats the big pickle?" Squints could feel the oncoming storm.

KA BLAMMY!
"HAPPPPPPY BERTHDAAAAAYYYY SQUINTS!"

"OH P-U! That stinks! And its NOT my birthday!" Squints guffawed.
"Oh dear! I'm so ashamed...I've been saving up! I've been clenched for two weeks! Stomach cramps! Pain! All for you!"
"Oh shucks Ollie, you are a good friend. Even if your gas did make my nose swell. I don't really mind your gas that much"

"NOOODLES! Because this birthday gift is about to make another entrance!"

Tuckered out from the days events, they drank some hot cocoa, and took a snuggle together.
The...End...

Blog Swappin'

I took part in my very first blog swap, and had so much fun putting together a little package for my assigned blog partner. Sadly, I didn't take any pictures of the finished package but this is what I sent her:

This handmade travel journal by yours truly:

And some of these notecards, also designed by yours truly:

And some delish chocolates! She wrote me a sweet note telling me she loved everything. Horray for giving!
I have yet to receive my package, but I'm looking forward to it.

Uh Oh!

At the beginning of March, Mae and I took a fun trip to the pet store and bought her a betta fish and a Finding Nemo tank. She was quite excited. We named the little guy Grover, because he is blue, and Mae and both love Sesame Street.

Well, Mae decided to dump her fish tank over yesterday. I grabbed the wriggling fish in my bare hands as Tom ran around, arms flailing about, trying to find some kind of device we could put Grover in. He came up with my q-tip holder. Little Grover was safe and sound.

And then Mae decided to unravel the toilet paper, bring it out in our room, and then blow her nose with the very tip. What a mischief maker!

Mae has gotten her love of Sesame Street from the her mommy. (horray!) and we love to watch this youtube video of "Happy Tapping with Elmo". The first video is Mae dancing to it. Hilarious. The second is even funnier, because she falls down, and her face is a hoot! I love her.

New Illustration

I just finished this illustration today. I really like how it turned out, and I'm planning on framing it and putting it in Mae's room when we move out.
Prints of this drawing can be found here. I can customize the colors to suit personal needs. Thanks for looking :)

An Amazing Talent

I came across Juli Adams at the Utah Arts Festival a few years back and have remained a fan ever since. She even took the time to email me with advice on starting an art career. Check her work out at www.juliadams.com.

The evolution of art

In the past couple of weeks I've been trying to get all of our stuff organized and packed up, and I came across a lot of my art from high school and the beginning of college. It was fun to look through and see what I came up with back then. You can tell what kinds of things I was going through with a lot of them. Here's a little slideshow:

Stinky Poo
