10 Weeks
For the past 10 weeks (I missed a few classes) I have been attending an open studio for figure drawing. I've never before taken a figure drawing class, and although this was not an actual instructional class with a teacher, I feel like I learned a lot just by being there and drawing. I can definitely see a huge improvement throughout. Yay!
Here is my work, first to last:
Here is my work, first to last:
The entire time we only had female models. On our very last night, I was an hour and a half late, and of course, out of all the nights for me to be late we finally had a male model! It was very strange crosshatching a wiener.
Anyways, it was awesome and I feel like I came a long way over the 10 weeks, and I'm looking for another class, hopefully this time with an instructor.

Monday Show-n-Tell

For a long time in high school I was really into doing these pen and ink collages. The one to the right was a gift for my big brother. It was done on canvas with Acrylics. Everything in it has something to do with Aaron. I need to do these again...they were fun!

From this to that
This is my daily diddy. (That word is already getting annoying) The one below is a pen sketch I did while I was
bored. And then I thought, "that would make a pretty cool
oil painting." And it became the piece on the right. I have to say, that this is one of my favorite paintings I've done. After I was done painting it, I thought, "why the snail?" well...I like animals and little creatures. And I've been told that the girl looks like me. Its interesting, because most of my work has a meaning behind it, but I don't quite know what it is until I'm done and I have a chance to really look at it and analyze it. I believe that this painting is a representation of me, staring procrastination (snails=slow/lazy) in the face. which I felt I had been doing for a long time. I hadn't done anything artistic for awhile, and so this is me finally accepting that I was being a lazy bum and I needed to get to work. TA DA! I know...its so deep you can hardly wrap your brain around it.
