$10 Custom Illustrations!

Hiya everybody!

It's been awhile since I posted on here. I'd like to make it a regular thing. I have a bunch of ideas for regular post's. One idea is to partner up with my stepdaughter on thrift fashion. Neither of us like to pay a ton for our wardrobe, and going to thrift stores and discount shops is super fun for super cheap. Whaddya think?

Today I started something pretty cool. I am now offering custom 5"X5" illustrations for just $10. I got a pretty great response and in my first day of offering it have been busy drawing to fulfill orders!

Here are just a couple:

These are one subject, one color. If you would like to get one for yourself or as a gift, please email me at thecheekywhale@gmail.com

Crappy Shoes Made Over

We have this discount store by us called Parades Falles. (Don't ask me how to pronounce it). I have found some real gems there! (Yesterday I bought a $120 swimsuit for $5!!!)
I found these heels marked down from $40 to a $1! I loved the color but the fabric was in horrible condition, so I took them home and gave them a makeover. I wanted to make them look like they had just popped off a comic book page.

a funky portrait

Just finished up a painting I did on a whim. Lucky for me I have gorgeous sisters, so I get free models.
This is the first time I've ever painted on board and I LERF it. I don't know why I didn't try it sooner.

The picture that inspired it:

This one has already sold, but you can get your own custom portrait for $250 for an 18x24. thecheekywhale@gmail.com for inquiries.

Dr Who Shoes

My family is pretty obsessed with Doctor Who, and I thought it would be perfect to make my brother in law some Doctor Who shoes.
Sorry for the glare and poor quality, I was so excited to get them to him, I didn't have time to put together a fabulous photo shoot :)

If only I could make them play the Doctor Who theme every time he took a step...

They were super fun to make, so fun in fact that I'm offering custom shoe painting now. You provide the shoes, I'll paint something awesome.

Some peeps and a house

Does anyone read blogs anymore?
Anywhoodles, here are some of my illustrations lately:

Portraits:

The house my grandma grew up in.

I am really working hard at getting better and improving my skills. Every time I finish a piece I always see a flaw that I didn't notice before. (Example...notice the portrait of the dude..his eyes are a little wonky). I am learning to not be so hard on myself, realizing that noticing the flaws in my work will only teach me valuable lessons and encourage me to work harder. During the drawing process I've found it's imperative to step away from my work for awhile and take a break, and when I go back to work I can see it with fresh eyes and notice flaws I wouldn't have seen otherwise. Also, looking at it upside down and sideways helps.

I start a life drawing class aka "draw naked people"class on Tuesday. I'm really excited to get out of the house and into a studio. 3 hours of just drawing, no interruptions. WOO!

P.S. If you are interested in a drawing, 8X10's are $60. Email me thecheekywhale@gmail.com

Tattoo Design

Just finished up a commission for a tattoo design. This woman is a HUGE Carrot Top fan. She wanted an anklet, so I drew up some "charms" for her.

Doggies and a Mama

One of my dearest friends has two sweet little doggies, Bear and Bailee. Bear has been really sick and I really wanted to cheer Melis up, so I drew a little illustration for her. Mae picked out some toys and treats for the dogs and wrote Bear a get well letter and we sent it off in the mail.
Melissa put up a video on her facebook page thanking us, it was so sweet! My cute little Mae had tears in her eyes! She has such a big heart.
Feel better soon, Bear!!!
