Vintage Gas Pumps

Red

RED LIPS have been my signature lip color since high school. It's been a long time since I was 15. Like...(hold on I'm counting on my fingers....) like 17 years this Saturday. WHAT THE HELL. Why did I just do that to myself? Why did I just do the math stuff? Now it's for reals, dude. I can't believe I'm days away from turning 32. Okay, whatever. Moving on. I'm over it. My point is, is that over the span of those 17 years (what the HELL) I have tried a whole lotta red lipsticks. I still haven't found the perfect one. Let me share with you what I expect every time I shell out money for a new red lip product:

 It has to smell good, stay put (I kiss a lot of cute little cheeks throughout the day) it has to be the perfect shade of red, it has to be easy to apply, it has to make me feel like a badass sexy lady, it has to be made of cruelty free ingredients and not tested on animals. I'm not high maintenance at all.  Never have I found one that actually meets all of my standards. Until NOW. (Cue trumpets and angel choir). 

I came across Lime Crime cosmetics on Instagram when the lovely Renee Olstead shared a photo of her kisser decked out in Red Velvet. It took me a few months to come around and actually order it, but after so many a rave review, I finally caved. I am happy to say it meets all of my strict requirements and I never want it to go away. Please, Lime Crime, stay around forever and ever. I love you.

Toilet Room

Ten years

We've been married ten years. It sounds like SUCH A LONG TIME! It has flown and I'm sure every year on our anniversary I'll be in denial, sounding like an old woman flinging my hands in the air and exclaiming,"Where has the time gone!"

I loved our first place together. You can see the inside here.

Anytime we are visiting Utah and get the chance, we drive by it. This last trip I took the kids over and got some shots of them in front of it. So cool.

And when my mom and I did 30 Strangers, Justin's studio was right down the road, so we walked over and got some shots. I think maybe I'll buy this house one day....

I have a love/hate relationship with this kitchen.

+LOVE the open shelving and the vintage wallpaper. 

-HATE the tile. I don't know what the previous owners were thinking. It confuses me. I look down and I'm like,"OH! I'm outside again...."

+LOVE the old fridge. We had to get rid of it a few weeks ago because it was leaking. BOO. 

-HATE the lack of counter space. I can slice like...a carrot and then I have to clean up and start on a tomato. It takes me an hour to make a salad.

+LOVE the gas stove! 

I bought this box of vintage reading cards a long time ago, and it has a bunch of cute pictures I will eventually frame. For now, masking tape will do. 

I love my vintage Coffee tin.

This window leads out to the laundry room. I thought about getting little curtains, but the I need all the light I can get in the kitchen. So I just deal with the water spots on the window.

House Tour - Front Room

It's been almost a year since we moved into this cute little house (cool story about why we live here), and I still haven't posted any pictures. I keep thinking I will once I'm "done" decorating but I'm never done. There is always something I want to change or add or move around. 

So...here it is. Always a work in progress. The front room:

-The view from the kitchen. Love that floor -

 - An antique that made it's way across the sea with immigrants. I painted it aqua and I'm just in love with it. It's my favorite piece of furniture-

-My art and photography books, and monster posters that we'll frame eventually-

 -Engagement picture, Disney Family Fun magazine article Mae and I were in, family history photos, a lamp that needs some kind of shade.-

 -The kitchen has a small room built off of it that is supposed to be a dining area. It is so awkwardly shaped that our table didn't fit in there, so we chow here and I made the nook my art studio-

 -A photograph I took of my daughter and a drawing I did of my husband, daughter and I.

I need to draw a new one with Sawyer-

 -My sock monkey made for me by my sister and a rad "Lord of the Rings" video disc. Remember those?-

 -The time out chair-

-My grandmothers hutch and a chair I painted in high school. It's an old Wendys chair. -

 -He's not excited that you're about to put your ass on his face.-

 -On top is a Madame Alexander doll my mom passed down to Mae, a chess set from China, my Mickey Mouse ears, and my bridal picture.-

 -I love everything in my hutch. My house has to be filled with things that has a history and sentimental value. I'm a sucker for anything with a story-

 -Vintage cameras, postcards from family, and a Geisha fan. I love Geishas!-

 -Vintage Mark Twain books, reading picture cards, and vintage Yahtzee and Scrabble-

 -My mom and I while she was going through one of her many rounds of chemo-

-Vintage Disney books and Tom Sawyer. An interesting fact about this book: A few years after I had Mae, I just knew that our next kid would be a boy. I also knew that I wanted to name him Ender or Sawyer. I came across this book in a shop and had to buy it. A few years later I got pregnant, it was a boy, and we named him Sawyer. I love having a book with my husbands and my sons name on it.-

-Random knick knacks and an owl candle. It makes the hutch smell so good-

-Crafts that Tom and Mae made at free art museum day-

 -Vintage Mickey Mouse doll, and of course, one of the greatest gifts I've ever received "Little Ballerina"-

-Whale salt shaker. You know how I feel about whales...-

 -Acquire! A tradition in my husband family. Okay, obsession, actually-

 -This is a door. It opens and closes.-

 -A couple of our Disneyland posters. We get one every time we go-

Well, there you have it, folks! This is by far my favorite room in the whole house.
